A History Full Of Flavor!
El Cerro Grande is owned by the Ibarra family, who emigrated from the small Mexican town of Degollado, Jalisco. It is a small town located in the central mountainous region of the state of Jalisco. The name “El Cerro Grande” is inspired by one of the big hills close to the Ibarra Family ranch, La Sangijuela. El Cerro Grande began as an idea to provide authentic quality Mexican food with exceptional and friendly service.
We opened the door to our first store in Wilmington, NC on January 1991. Since then, it has grown to three stores in Wilmington. We all strive to provide consistent quality fresh food and service based on our founding principles.
Thank you Wilmington for making us part of your community. Thanks to all those loyal families that since 1991 have been there and made us part of their lives. We know that since then, many Mexican Restaurants have come and go, but we are blessed and proud to say that in January 2016 we celebrate our 25th Anniversary with our beautiful Wilmington community.
